There is one round hole in the lid and two in the bottom (only one that goes all the way through the wood and smaller than a peppercorn

whether they moved or not

and especially love those shaped like little shoes

Definitely it was hand sewn, white leather with blue thread, and it looks like it took at least one good smack that was contributed to it's wonky shape now.
